Things to remember when your in a car accident.

 

When you are in an automobile accident after making sure that you and your loved ones are in a safe zone to avoid a second impact you should call 911 to get a police officer dispatched to the scene.  Take photos of the damaged vehicle.  If Emergency Medical Services arrive at the scene, make sure you are assessed.  Pain does not always appear immediately following an accident, it can develop and become worse days or weeks after the accident.  Once the police arrives, get your recount of the accident’s occurrence documented.  Retain your police accident report or number for your records.  As soon as time allows call your insurance number and request a claim number for your injuries and the damage of your vehicle.  I your pain continues , always call the doctor first and attorney second.  Nothing is more important that restoring your health when you have injuries.  You are always in control of your care.  You can select which ever medical professional you prefer to manage your care.  Time is of the essence because you have only 14 days from the date of the accident to see a medical professional.  Personal injury medical benefits offered by your car insurance policy is only available to those that seek care before those 14 days.
